Up on the second floor.
Things have been busy the past month (in a very good way). So much so that we are going to compound three weeks worth of week in review posts into one massive month in review!
First and foremost, driving down Sutter Street you may have noticed that we teamed up with both our upstairs and downstairs neighbors to put a sign up. Those in the know have always been able to find us upstairs, but if it has been a while since you visited us then follow the signs.

Looking into Ann Eby's Studio
We have also been busy running around the city popping into artist’s studios. Visiting an artist on their home turf is always an insightful and exciting look into their process and creativity. Last week we stopped into the studio of Ann Eby, one of the first artists ever to join the Hang Art stable. Talking with her about her lifelong studio practice was amazing.

This month we also stopped into the studios of Peter Dimick, Olivia Brown, Ed Calhoun, James Williams, Maja Ruznic, Addie Shevlin, and Kelly DeFayette. Each artist has new art work either ready to come in, or already in, the gallery.
Speaking of new art, we have been meeting some very exciting new artists that are making brilliant artworks.

Brand new artist Catherine Palmer and brand new artwork, "Lincoln Ave, Presidio," 2011
Earlier this month we added James Williams’ hauntingly vacant landscapes of fences and dilapidated structures to hangart.com. While we had been tipped off by another one of our artists, James came to us through our open portfolio submission. That is also how we found the tight architectural paintings of Catherine Palmer. Each painting by Palmer is a quiet investigation of the far corners of San Francisco.
For December we brought in two additional new artists Maja Ruznic and Helen Steele. Both artists work with the human figure and are interested in exploring moments of personal emotion, but are divergent in their application. To see these two new artists, and the other six painters in the exhibition, be sure to join us December 1 from 6-8pm.
